Why does coaching work?

Coaching works for a number of reasons. As you have probably discovered yourself, creating goals is the easy part ... but sticking to them is harder! Being accountable to someone else can make a profound impact on how much we achieve. We are very often our own worst critic, so being encouraged to stay focused and do what matters most is a key ingredient to success. Sometimes we're so deep in what we are doing that we lose perspective.

Having an unbiased observer on the 'side-lines', giving honest and open feedback, can really help clients to see the bigger picture. It is therefore a combination of a number of different roles, which makes coaching work. As your coach, I synthesize a number of different roles... a mentor who helps set bigger goals ... a manager to break down the goals into smaller chunks ... a personal trainer to keep up motivation and ensure constant movement towards the goals and... a sports coach to provide specific feedback to you that will help you improve their performance...and a constant supporter to pull it all together!

Coaching is proven to work when two factors are present:

  ·         The client is willing to learn, grow, and take action
  ·         There is a gap between where s/he is now and where s/he wants to be

  That’s all that is necessary for a successful coaching relationship, where you can develop the right strategy, implement a plan of action and achieve your goals. Anything is possible within our coaching relationship. With a coach you can:

Our first task together is to find out exactly what you really want for yourself. Once you create goals and objectives that are clearly in line with your personal values and professional vision, you are much more likely to naturally and consistently take actions to reach them.

You’ll also find that just talking about your options with someone who really listens is often enough to clarify things.
